“Wake possesses a unique and engaging voice. Readers get hooked and stay hooked.”
Luke and Dmitri, two soldiers-of-fortune, are leading troops on the losing side of an African civil war. Their challenges increase when they confront a Machiavellian war-criminal while trying to reign in - and keep alive - two subordinates bent on different missions of vengeance.
Tanzaire augments the cliff-hangers, romance and humor of an old-school, page-turning action-adventure with modern themes, a crisp voice and a vastly clever plot.

The two previous reviews are both spot on so no sense in repeating what's been said. Just a really, REALLY, good guy story. So yes, I was surprised that one of the reviewers was a gal. Goes to show what I know. Anyhow, I still think that any guy who reads and likes action would love this book. The author has done an outstanding job of portraying real life personalities. The Alex character might have been a bit of a stretch for realism but hey, still made for a great read. Absolutely recommend reading this if your not of the arts and bagels crowd.Product details

Why isn't EVERYBODY Talking About This Book?
Seriously, why? I laughed (very often. Funny, foul-mouthed dialogue and one hilarious situation), I cried (there is a really moving scene just before the end). And it is paced like a rocket. It was amazing! I read the book in two days, practically not putting it down after I started. It begins at a relentless pace then slows to develop the characters and backstory a bit, then takes off again until the end. Seriously, it moves like the DaVinci Code but with humor and more colorful characters. I highly, highly recommend this story.
This is a delightfully funny, scary, shocking and poignant story of growth. The growth of age, knowing, love and the advance of war. But, so much more than a war story. Being female I love strong female characters and found them in this book. I found the change in Alex inspiring. These characters were well defined and it was easy to form allegiances with them. I would have liked more background information on them, however. The only thing lacking was a bit more history on the African political situation; for those of us who are not worldly. I just love a book that has me thinking about the "people" during the day...wondering how they are doing. This will happen to you when you read this book. It truly has something for everyone.
Not exactly what I thought it would be, but a great book! Unexpected twists and turns made it hard to put down!
